It has been a very busy past few months with everything from getting my team deal sorted out, to a wedding, a honeymoon, and starting a new chapter in my racing career with KTM. The following is a summary of the past few months:
I want to start off saying how amazing my season was for 2010. The national enduro championship was really special to me because it was my first ever AMA national championship. So I want to thank Keith Obermeyer, Randy Hawkins and Yamaha for a great year.
I was able to finish second overall in the GNCC series which is my highest overall finish I have ever done in the series and I want to do better that for 2011. Also, I want to congratulate Josh Strang on the championship.
Now to move on to what I have been up to since Crawfordsville, IN:
KTM was a done deal before Indiana so I was sad it was going to be my last race on the Yamaha. After the race it still stayed pretty hectic with riding and training. I was able to start riding the KTM November 1 and I had my wedding November 6 and a honeymoon for two weeks. So I was going to get as much riding done as possible before I had to leave town. I rode everyday leading up to the wedding just getting the KTM dialed in. I am going to ride the 350 next year and the bike is amazing so far.
The wedding was amazing and I had a wonderful and special day. I am glad it is all over and done with too at the same time haha. After that we jumped on a plane to Hawaii and pretty much relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. On the way back we stopped in Las Vegas for the AMA banquet and to watch some endurocross. At the banquet I knew I was nominated for the athlete of the year, but when they called my name for it I was pretty much lost for words. I was one the most accomplished feelings I have had since I started racing.
After Vegas I spent two weeks out at KTM in California to do our photo shoot, testing, and a whole bunch of other stuff. My experience out there was really cool and KTMs shop is top notch. I also got to meet my new mechanic JR and he is a really cool guy. I also was able to head down to Mexico to do the Tecate enduro. I had a lot of fun riding down there and I was a little bummed about my finish (4) but I was also happy to get a race on the bike and just to see what I need to work on and I was able to figure all that out. My 350 is really working awesome now and I can’t wait for the race season to start back up.
So at this point I am back on the east coast getting ready for Christmas and after that it is down to Florida to start riding and training again for 2011. I am really excited to defend my title for enduros and also try to get the number 1 plate for the GNCCs. Thanks for reading and I will keep you up to date with my local races I will be doing this winter.
